Gansevoort Park South - NYC

Gansevoort Park South - NYC

Have you been to the Gansevoort?

A while back, the hottest spot in town to be seen was the Gansevoort Hotel in the Meatpacking District. It was reputably known as the stylish luxury hotel of NYC. A few years ago, the brand opened a sister site in midtown on Park Avenue and 29th Street. This property has a pool deck for guests, Italian dining option with Ristorante Asellina, and exhale Spa, just to name a few amenities.

Of course, I'm going to talk about the space! I took a tour since it is another hotel close to my office. It could be another option for offsite meetings and events.

Ballroom

On the third level, there is a ballroom of about 3,000 square feet with floor to ceiling windows. It is shaped like an L which allows the room to be divided into two via airwall, and with two separate entrances. Think of a reception (for the smaller room) followed by dinner (in the larger room). Or simply two different meeting rooms. The room is equipped with AV and complimentary Internet Wifi.

Red Room

I know it doesn't look like much in the light of day, but the Red Room is a really nice space at night when the special lighting effects kick in. For a small party of 25 guests, it serves as lounge with a full bar, indoor fireplace, small outdoor terrace. And there's a DJ booth too! It's your own private club!

The Ivy Lounge

The Ivy Lounge has a small outdoor patio with outdoor fireplace but I think its real beauty is inside: the lounge is decorated with ivy against against stone walls, complimented by reclaimed wooden beams, softening the space for any event. I've seen this space used for private dinners, whiskey tastings, and business meetings.

Park Lounge

This is one funky looking lounge with floor to ceiling windows and eclectic furniture. There is narrow terrace just outside for a breath of fresh air. This is great for any kind of party or reception.

Gansevoort Park South does have a pool and I asked if it was possible to have a pool party out there. The answer is no, because the pool is an amenity to their hotel guests. However, there is a space (which I have unfortunately not seen yet) called The Sundeck, which gives off that pool party flair. Info on that space can be found at the link listed below.

I try to do my best in taking these photos of venues in order to give an honest look of the space. As an event planner, anyone can spice it up but I think it helps to see what you've got to work with first - especially if you're on a budget. The different spaces in Gansevoort Park South are so well-appointed that all you have to worry about is the menu and your guests.
