Tour My Hotel Room: Andaz Capital Gate, Abu Dhabi, UAE
The swirling design of the Andaz Capital Gate appears like a cross between a glass tornado and a staircase to the sky. In fact, at an 18 degree incline, this tower is the world’s furthest leaning hotel. At first glance of the hotel’s photo, I thought, “I want to stay there!”
Just prior to my stay in December 2018, the hotel had been re-branded from the Hyatt to the Andaz Capital Gate, thus becoming the first Andaz branded hotel in the Middle East. Owned by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibitions Company (ADNEC), the hotel is just a short walk away from the Abu Dhabi Convention Center next door. There are beautiful art pieces throughout the public spaces to match its modern interior design, exuding a luxurious and hip vibe. Their signature restauant, 18 Degrees, has both indoor and outdoor seating with panoramic views of the city. The hotel also has a small pool deck and a spa, but unfortunately I was not able to use either during this trip.
As for my hotel room, it was so spacious. And I had a great view of the city, particularly the Corniche area of Abu Dhabi (similar to New York City’s Soho neighborhood). For more details about the hotel room, check out my hotel room video tour:
I’ll admit that this hotel is more for guests attending an event at the convention center. However, the area had a lot of nearby restaurants within walking distance. Also, getting around Abu Dhabi by taxi was very easy. In December, hotel rates can range from $163.00 USD to $190.00 USD which, for a luxury property, this is a great rate!
Customer service at the Andaz Capital Gate has been nothing less than exceptional. From helping me get checked in quickly because I was jet-lagged, to assisting with booking tours/taxis/restaurant reservations/money exchange, to simply providing insight about Abu Dhabi and to the culture of the United Arab Emirates. I was truly impressed with the hotel staff at this property.
