Revisiting The Barclay
This past May the Intercontinental New York Barclay re-opened after an extensive $180 million, 20-month renovation and the results look fantastic! I attended a reception at the hotel and barely recognized the lobby.
The lobby still has that sophisticated air, with a new edition: The Gin Parlour. This bar offers 88 premium gins alongside other wines and spirits, and a locally sourced menu. Each of its signature cocktails comes to life with a distinct presentation, including the Midtown Apothecary, which is served over aromatized cracked ice and botanicals, and The Hive, featuring honey harvested in New York City complemented by a honey cluster.
The Barclay has two elegant ballrooms with gorgeous chandeliers and crown molding: the Grand Ballroom (4,954 sf) and Empire Ballroom (3,500 sf) with 17 ft ceilings offer engaging space for any corporate meeting or social function.
Need something more intimate? Hold your meeting in one of the suites on the mezzanine level. Whether a board meeting or a press interview, these rooms are tucked away from the main ballrooms.
One of my favorite details on this hotel are the plaques on every guest room door, showcasing a bit of regal Americana.
Intercontinental New York Barclay is located in midtown New York.
