Arlo NoMad and Massoni in NYC
Earlier this year I was invited to breakfast at Arlo, a boutique hotel that opened in the NoMad area of NYC. I've heard Arlo Hotels described as "essentials without excess". The rooms are intimate but have everything anyone could need, and are creatively designed to accommodate the urban explorer.
For me, I was more interested in seeing what meeting space was available since the NoMad location is so close to my office. My first impression of Arlo is that it has a hipster, artsy vibe - a casual atmosphere yet fashionable enough to attract guests. Joe's Coffee Bar and the Massoni Restaurant are right in the lobby.
On the second floor are three separate studios that can each be used as meeting space. All three can all be combined into one large meeting room. The doors and windows are floor to ceiling and allow a lot of light, but can also be covered. The partitions for the rooms are frosted to give some privacy. Each studio can fit about 15 people for a reception but I think this could also be a workshop room or a private dinner room.

Also on the second floor of Arlo NoMad is BARlo. It's a small area and unfortunately my photo does not do this room justice. It's got a dark wood theme, and is much sleeker than it appears. It's a nice area for reception for 30 people.
Past BARlo is the chic "ski lodge" with a private terrace. This is a unique space that I thought would be great for a private party. This area can be combined with the BARlo front area, and it total can fit about 100 people, flowing around both areas.
Arlo NoMad also has a rooftop bar, called The Heights. Unfortunately, I only got to see the space covered in snow. Thankfully I was able to dig up a comparison photo, when the weather is nice and sunny!
In addition, Arlo NoMad's in-house restaurant, Massoni, is also available for booking. In fact, Chef Dale Talde services all three concepts within the hotel - Massoni, BARlo and The Heights. Massoni is a full-service restaurant that serves "Inauthentic Italian" fare. I would call it Italian-fusion cuisine. The restaurant itself has a unique look - half street, half sexy. I can't put my finger on it, but you'll know what I mean when you see these pics.
The first area is the bar and lounge. It's not huge but it would be nice for a reception. The main dining room is also casual and seats about 55 people (this is my guess).
