Centrolina Mercato e Osteria
Ugh, I hate it when I miss a Foodie Friday post! But better late than never, right? Today, I thought I'd feature a restaurant in DC, since DC is so easy to get to by train from NYC.
The time I heard about Centrolina was when I attended a cooking demonstration event to promote DC's cuisine at the De Gustibus Cooking School in Macy's. There, Chef Amy Brandwein talked to us about her restaurant, Centrolina, and what she likes to put on her menu.
A few months later I was on DC on a business trip when a colleague offered to take me out to lunch. She was not familiar with "the restaurant scene" being a new resident of the city herself. I said, "Let's go check out Centrolina."
My colleague and I were so impressed with the menu. It was very obvious all the ingredients were fresh. My entree was the branzino over white beans while my colleague opted for the squid ink pasta. Then we shared a type of pane dolce for desert. Look how beatiful these dishes are!
Now, I know there's a market onsite, but I didn't get to see it. From what I've read, the retail store features products that Chef Amy likes to use from her experiences with Italian cooking. I also found out that Centrolina does catering! Talk about taking your company meeting up a notch! Here's a catering menu I found on their web site: http://centrolinadc.com/contact/market-specials/
Centrolina is located in Palmer Alley in CityCenterDC. Definitely check it out when you are in DC!
