La Vie at The Wharf in DC
It’s hard to believe that another vibrant city is just a few hours away by train from New York. Every time I arrive at Union Station in Washington DC, I feel surprised at how familiar I am with getting through the train station. As I make my way towards the taxi stand, I still stop to take a photo of the majestic Grand Hall of Union Station. It’s so different from New York’s gritty, Penn Station. :(
While in DC, I was shown The Wharf, a newly built neighborhood on the Potomac. Surrounded by condos and shops on a marina full of luxury boats, this new district is vibrant and hip. One restaurant in particular caught my attention as an awesome event space: La Vie.
Serving Mediterranean cuisine, this spacious venue sits on a 5th floor loft and overlooks the marina. Elevators open to the main dining room where seating is along the floor-to-ceiling windows. Towards the room’s interior is a small lounge right next to an impressive bar. The color scheme is in shades of white, with occasional pops of color. Throughout the restaurant are interesting art pieces as well as some artsy-looking lighting fixtures.
Additional dining is in the Conservatory: plush, green banquettes against a vine-covered white brick wall. Facing the banquettes is a bar that runs the length of the room, with counter-top seating. Towards the back of the room is the private Chandelier Room, named aptly for the enormous chandelier hanging above. La Vie also has a Terrace Bar that overlooks the Potomac river. One can walk through all four rooms as they are all connected like a circle, so there’s a variety of ways to privatize your event, depending on your needs.
Check it out yourself! If you’re in DC, grab the electric scooter and head over to La Vie at The Wharf.
Ta ta for now!
