Philadelphia: The Logan Hotel and Urban Farmer
A few months back, my sister and I went on a road trip to Philadelphia, and we stayed at The Logan. I knew the hotel was in a great downtown location, near Sister Cities Park and the Academy of Natural Sciences. But I didn't know it was part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. From what I've heard from colleagues, the Curio portfolio has hotels that reflect the best of its surroundings. Some hotels are historic, or are landmarks, but these are definitely hotels with a lot of personality.
From the moment I entered the lobby, I could tell The Logan had a modern design but with an artsy vibe. Later I confirmed that, throughout the lobby, it is indeed a curated collection of Philadelphia-inspired artwork.
Our hotel room was stylish, with plush pillows, great products, and a view of the courtyard. I loved how our do not disturb signs reflected Philadelphia's history (and America's history for that matter). In case you didn't know, The Logan is named after James Logan, a statesman and scholar who was once colonial secretary to William Penn, founder of the Province of Pennsylvania.
I was happy to find that one of the dining options at The Logan was Urban Farmer, a steakhouse that sources its ingredients locally. It's a trendy looking restaurant, a little different from the hotel (meaning, not so artsy). I believe they called their style "rural-chic."
Aside from aesthetics, the food was fantastic. I've always thought that most restaurants that are farm-to-table served dishes that had more natural flavors and juices. No need to bury anything under a lot a sauces and other "accessories."
After snooping around the restaurant, I found their private dining room behind a sliding door (looked like it could be on a barn!). I loved the contrast between the white barn door and wooden floors versus the red and gold wall paper and matching carpet in the interior. The tables where placed together to seat 12 but could also be separated to possibly fit 16 for dinner.
The Logan hotel does have meeting space but unfortunately I didn't have time to take a peek. I have considered the hotel for some of my events so I do know that they have over 12,000 sf of meeting space.

If you ever find yourself in Philadelphia, check out The Logan or Urban Farmer. Though different, both venues are very hip and worth a look.
